Wiltshire

The Wiltshire & Swindon Destination Management Partnership Board, which includes representatives from all the local authorities together with private sector representatives (nominated by the local  authority officers), has been active since April 2006 and currently operates under the aegis of the Wiltshire Strategic Economic Partnership.

Having undertaken consultation with the trade and its local authority partners on the development of a Destination Management Plan and a new corprate identity, the Board is currently engaged in preparing a Business Plan which will set out its long term aspirations, the structure of the organisation and the work that it will undertake.

It is essential that these dovetail with and reflect the impact of the recent announcement concerning "One Wiltshire" - a single Council for Wiltshire, which should enable much greater impact.

Local authorities across the County are committed to the DMP and are working together in seeking to incorporate the new Wiltshire identity in their 2008 publications.

We are now at the stage of selling the concept to the trade in Wiltshire. Consultative workshops have been held and there is excellent buy-in from trade reps on the DMP board, therefore a good ambassadorial role is being undertaken with wider industry.

The Board are looking forward to being in a position to formally launch the DMP later this year.
