Somerset

The Somerset Tourism Project Team has been delivering several projects that will not only promote Somerset, but also progress plans to implement a Destination Management Organisation for the area. 

A Somerset based PR and communications agency has been appointed to maximise exposure for Somerset and a number of theme groups have been set up to deliver aspects of the existing destination management plan.  For the first time, a Somerset-wide visitor brochure for 2008 will be produced and advertising packs will be sent out at the end of the summer.

The new Visit Somerset website is now live (www.visitsomerset.co.uk) and has already started to turn heads for its usability and innovative style, reflecting the new Somerset branding. There's still time for businesses to maximise the opportunities of this website which is already attracting around 1000 visits a day.

In Autumn 2007, the new brand for Somerset will be officially launched at Somerset Tourism Summit. Businesses will then have the chance to find out more about the emerging DMO. A recent presentation, provided by the project co-ordinator is available to download here.
