Dorset

The Dorset Destination Management Partnership (DMP) is currently being developed and already comprises key members of the industry from the private and public sectors. A Steering Group has been formed in order to help shape the management partnership. Work has centred on an audit of current activity, identifying areas for greater collaboration and joined-up working and developing a management structure and draft business plan.

The Steering Group currently has four project teams led by tourism officers to tackle these points:

  1. Destination Plan
  2. Business Plan
  3. Destination Management System, Dorset-wide database and new websites
  4. 'Quick wins' to engage industry and build credibility (brown signage is the first major issue)

These actions are stage one of the process.

The draft plan and industry consultation will feedback to the Steering Group who will consider the outcomes along with other work, such as the progress of the Destination Management System and the Dorset Tourism Audit to develop the next stage of the partnership.

Next Steps (2007/2008):

  • Market Segmentation Workshops
  • Undertake industry email consultation
  • Finalise Destination Management Plan
